How to Disable and Enable Button in Flutter

One the functions of button you will find interesting in flutter is disabling and enabling button.

The code example below illustrate how to disable and enable button in flutter.

It is based on flutter version 1.0.0.

Main.dart (App entry point)

import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'disable_button.dart';

void main() => runApp(MyApp());

class MyApp extends StatelessWidget {
  // This widget is the root of your application.
  Widget build(BuildContext context) {
    return MaterialApp(
      title: 'Flutter Demo',
      debugShowCheckedModeBanner: false,
      theme: ThemeData(
        // This is the theme of your application.
        // Try running your application with "flutter run". You'll see the
        // application has a blue toolbar. Then, without quitting the app, try
        // changing the primarySwatch below to and then invoke
        // "hot reload" (press "r" in the console where you ran "flutter run",
        // or simply save your changes to "hot reload" in a Flutter IDE).
        // Notice that the counter didn't reset back to zero; the application
        // is not restarted.
      //home: MyHomePage(title: 'Flutter Demo Home Page'),
      home: DisableButton(),

This part is where the real implementation of disable and enable button occurs

import 'package:flutter/material.dart';

class DisableButton extends StatefulWidget {
  DisableButtonState createState() {
    return new DisableButtonState();

class DisableButtonState extends State<DisableButton> {
  //boolean value to determine whether button is disabled or enabled.
  bool _isButtonDisabled = false;

  Widget build(BuildContext context) {
    return Scaffold(
      appBar: AppBar(
        title: Text('Disable & Enable Button Example'),
      body: Center(
        child: Column(
          mainAxisSize: MainAxisSize.max,
          children: <Widget>[
              child: Center(
                child: RaisedButton(
                  child: Text('A Button'),
                  onPressed: _isButtonDisabled ? null : () {},
                  Text(_isButtonDisabled ? 'Enable Button' : 'Disable Button'),
              onPressed: () {
                setState(() => _isButtonDisabled = !_isButtonDisabled);
